Shell Malaysia found deepwater gas field

KUALA LUMPUR - Shell today announced the successful deepwater gas discovery wells 'Rosmari-1', is located 135 kilometers offshore Malaysia in Block SK318.

In a statement from The Hague today, he said the well was drilled at the depth of 2,123 meters, discovered more than 450 meter gas column and planned exploration, discovery is a positive indication to the potential of gas in the area of strategic importance Shell.

Block SK318 Shell operated with 85 per cent stake and the remaining 15 percent is held by Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd.

Director of Shell Upstream International, Andy Brown, said the discovery proves the company's ability to successfully perform drilling and building new understanding of the geology in the exploration of the area.

"We are expanding and giving new breath to the main area across our exploration portfolio, including Brunei, Australia and the Gulf of Mexico," he said.
