Shell picks Malaysia for Asia-Pacific Wells Learning Hub

MIRI, Sept 5 (Bernama) -- Shell Malaysia Sdn Bhd has opened the Asia- Pacific Wells Learning Hub in this oil city, the first of its kind in the Asia-Pacific region, for specialised training in the oil and gas industry.
The hub, which has simulators for oil wells training programme, is Shell's third hub after its Houston Centre in the United States and Rijswijk Centre in the Netherlands.
Shell Malaysia Chairman Iain Kho said the decision to establish the hub in this city demonstrated Shell's confidence and the ability to provide world-class training facilities in the country.
"Like flight simulators, they reproduce the visual and auditory experience of being at the rig site within a safe environment.
"This is truly a world-class training facility," he said at the hub opening today by Sarawak Deputy Chief Minister Tan Sri Alfred Jabu.
